Yes, it's time to start Unsound 2011!
The festival begins today with two unique, commissioned performances at the Engineering Museum, tonight at 7:00 pm. Felix Kubin & Macio Moretti will present their own live score for "Oj, Nie Mogę Się Zatrzymać!" (1975, dir. Zbigniew Rybczyński). The Soviet sc-fi classic "Aelita, the Queen of Mars” (1924, reż. Jakow Protazanow) will also be given a live soundtrack by Wojcek Czern's The Generator Analogue Orchestra, assembled for Unsound 2011. Tickets available at the Unsound Festival Office and at the door.
Afterward, Felix Kubin is to be seen/heard again in Pauza at 10:30 pm, along with Legowelt and The Complainer. Entrance for this show is entirely free!
We also invite you today to the former Miraculum factory, where sound/visual artists present (mostly new) installations inspired by the Future Shock theme. You'll see works by John Rafman & Daniel Lopatin, Raime & Ewelina Aleksandrowicz / Andrzej Wojtas, Jade Boyd, Voldemars Johansons and Robin Fox. The opening is at 5:00 pm.
Mat Schulz and Rui Silva also open their display their collection of 60s and 70s Polish sound postcards tonight, a pleasure for your eyes and ears. This exhibit starts between 9:00 pm - 11 PM tonight. Please note, the exhibit has been moved from Pauza Gallery to the gallery at ul. Florianska 20 next door.
Both the Unsound installations and the Polish sound postcard exhibit are open throughout the week.
Also a reminder that The Impossible Assembly begin their unique live printing project today beneath the Unsound Festival Office, in Pauza Gallery. Also in the same building, at 3:00 pm in Kino 18 there is a free screening of the documentary "In Search of The Unsound," about Unsound 2010. This will be introduced by Philip Sherburne, who features in the film.
Unsound passes are now sold out, but tickets to all individual events are on sale at Ticket Pro points of sale and the Unsound Festival Office in Pauza Gallery. They will also be available at the door to shows unless sold out.
Please note that Monday's "Immersion Tank" show is already sold out. There may be some tickets available at the door, but this cannot be guaranteed.
