We have just released the Unsound 2012 trailer by Berlin-based video artists MFO, featuring music from DEMDIKE STARE as well as one of our main venues this year: the abandoned communist-era Hotel Forum.

In addition, we have put the finishing touches to our 2012 program.

In terms of the Friday and Saturday club nights, we've booked BEN UFO, co-founder of London's Hessle Records. Like the previously announced ONEMAN, he is one of those rare DJs whose formidable reputation rests solely on his skills behind the decks, with his wonderfully unpredictable sets traversing house/techno/bass music.

LA-based duo NGUZUNGUZU release their otherworldly productions on Fade to Mind and lately Hippos in Tanks. Pitchfork called 2011's Lullaby Mix "the most evocative and unique DJ mix of the year" - and they are set to weave such magic at Unsound 2012.

The PAN program has been extended to include LEE GAMBLE, soon releasing the "Deviations" EP, where Jungle cassette mixes are subject to analog and digital deformations. Philadelphia's METASPLICE celebrate their recent EP on Morphine Records (run by Rabih Beaini, aka Morphosis) with a show melding noise, techno and improvised electronics.

The free Unsound closing party on the festival's closing night on SUNDAY 21 OCTOBER has been expanded to include a brief burst of insanity from V/VM - a counterpart to their seated show earlier in the weekend. This notorious duo will also present ACID ALAN, Manchester legend and veteran of the 1980s Belgian New Beat scene, a man both members of V/VM say had an enormous influence on the development of their music. Author DAVE TOMPKINS will perform a MIAMI BASS DJ set that is sure to also help end things in rip-roaring style.

A series of screenings explore further our 2012 theme "THE END". Curated by UK duo JIGOKU, these focus on "apocalyptic" movies, be they offbeat and obscure works set in futuristic wastelands, end-of-the-world animation or Cold War "educational" shorts from the USA on how to deal with nuclear attacks. Many of the movies are selected from Jigoku's vast VHS film library and extremely rare. Check out the full program on our website.

We will also investigate "THE END" through our panel and talks program. Elements presented by our partner THE WIRE include Q&A's with TIM HECKER & DANIEL LOPATIN, ANDY VOTEL, and BIOSPHERE, LUSTMORD and MFO. There will also be presentations from Dave Tompkins on Miami Bass (a compliment to his DJ set), EVAN CALDER WILLIAMS exploring humanity's apocalyptic fantasies and MARK PILKINGTON on Magick and Pop Music in Britain from 1888 to 1978. You'll hear a rare recording of the 1977 BBC Radiophonic Workshop adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains", and listen to panels on "Music Industry Now: Flatline or New Horizon" and "Talking About The End". The Wire writers Andy Battaglia and Dave Tompkins will lead many of the talks and panels.

THE RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY will present an Info Session with Detroit house music legend Theo Parrish, in conversation with Krakow DJ and Red Bull Music Academy graduate ELTRON JOHN.

RESIDENT ADVISOR is again presenting RA Exchange Talks, with editor TODD BURNS chatting with DEMDIKE STARE about their Unsound-commissioned project CONCEALED, as well as HIEROGLYPHIC BEING.

The BLACKEST EVER BLACK label and its founder KIRAN SANDE invite you to a Q&A with STUART ARGABRIGHT (of BLACK RAIN and IKE YARD) on NYC's multiple "ends" in film, books, music and reality to possible ends of the world.

Poland's GLISSANDO magazine will present panels on the end of the notion of the artist and post-humanism and sound. MUZYKOTEKA SZKOLNA will run a workshop on noise music aimed at children and teenagers.

The intimate NEW ROMAN gallery will present an exhibition and performances from the fantastic DIY Polish label SANGOPLASMO.

As for our free opening night on SUNDAY 14 OCTOBER, expect friends of Unsound to DJ, including ANDY VOTEL, renaissance man PHILIP SHERBURNE, OPIUM HUM (aka Michail Stangl). Krakow's DJ CHINO will play a live show.

Another free mid-week party will features a showcase from M DIVISION RECORDINGS featuring HEY CONVICT!, RANSOM & NHJ - all bringing the profanity of Aussie disco.
