Unsound Festival New York Website is Live! Actress and Unsound LABS Discussion Series Added to the Program!

The Unsound Festival New York 2012 website is now LIVE. You can check it out here.
We were just given the number 1 place in RA's April 2012 festival list, with the influential electronic and dance music website writing: "Entering into its third year Unsound Festival New York has cemented its place in the city's cultural landscape by partnering with cultural institutes and local promoters to bring unexpected acts to New York's best venues."
We've added a couple of artists to our already formidable line up. Most notably Actress, one of the most singular, shadowy figures in contemporary electronic music, will be giving his long overdue first live show in the U.S.
On top of this, you can check out the Unsound LABS discussion series, which we're proud to present this year with The Wire. The varied series includes artist talks with Robert Henke (Monolake), Stuart Argabright (Black Rain) and Biosphere and Lustmord. Stefan Betke (pole) will give a presentation on mastering, while music writer Dave Tompkins will talk about "Sustained Decay, a Natural History of Bass in Miami." There will be a screening of "Icon Eye" about the travels of Sun Araw to Jamacia to collaborate with legendary dub reggae group The Congos, followed by a discussion with Sun Araw's Camerone Stallones, director Tony Lowe and project producer Matt Werth. Jeremy Grimshaw will discuss his book "The Music and Mysticism of La Monte Young," and there will be a panel on "East of Berlin - Music in External Contexts." Except for the "Icon Eye" screening, all of these events are free and take place at the Goethe-Institut Wyoming Building.
The Unsound LABS music program will be added to the website next week, bringing artists from around the world together to present one-off live collaborations at ISSUE Project Room.
In the meantime, you can already buy individual tickets for most events - info here. (Keep in mind there will be no festival passes for Unsound Festival New York 2012.)
Stay tuned for more.
