UNSOUND PODCAST #06 - My Head Is Dubby

Based in Wroclaw, My Head is Dubby are a collective that has been organizing dubstep events for the past three years, making them Polish pioneers. They also run a radio show. To coincide with the “Bass Mutations” night in Manggha, MHID have delivered a massive mix more than 120 minutes long. It starts off with two producers appearing at Unsound this year, 2562 and Untold, before lurching off on an excursion of bass heavy music that showcases many of the artists they’ve invited to their events over the years – as well as a host of others. The mix was put together by q600, who also has some of his own productions in there.

Unsound Podcast #05 - Eltron John's Unsound Discoteque

Want to feel as if you’ve been dragged through a discoteque where the air is filled with the heavy haze of psychedelic substances. Polish winter lies outside the club, snow pushed against the wall, but don’t worry: it’s warm in here. Welcome to the ever-so-elegantly freaky work of Eltron John, Krakow’s own DJ. A graduate of the Red Bull Academy, Eltron spins discs almost every weekend somewhere in Poland, and runs the club night “Someone Loves You” at Caryca, a Krakow bar where the interior looks like a Polish Grandmother’s apartment. Rumours have it he’s also started putting together his own productions. Eltron has come out in fine form to deliver a mix both blissful and eccentric for Unsound Podcast # 5. Eltron will be opening on Thursday 22.10 at Unsound, at the No Visa Required Night. You’ll be taking quite a trip, and don’t worry: nobody will check your passport, just your ticket.

To celebrate this connection, DJ Spinoza has created an Unsound Podcast that gives an intro into the world of The Bunker. The mix was made in Brooklyn, with Traktor Scratch and two turntables.
But hold onto your hats: DJ Spinoza is not only performing at Unsound Krakow, but on the 9.10.2009 in Poznan and 10.10.2009 in Warsaw, he will take part in the “Connections” CD launch parties, co-presented by detroiZDRoJ, Unsound and scape.

UNSOUND PODCAST #03 - PHILIP SHERBURNE UNSOUND 2009 MIX

Philip Sherburne has many faces: music journalist for the Wire and Pitchfork, producer, DJ, blogger, Unsound comrade. Now he's drawn entirely on music from Unsound 2009 to create a unique podcast that shifts from a kind of mix tape made with Ableton, to a dubstep DJ set completed by hand. It goes right into the heart of what Unsound is about, giving insight into the fullness and contrasts of this year's program. There's everything from Sunn O))) to Omar-S, from Zomby to Stars of the Lid. Philip even managed to slip in an audacious Eagle Twin moment, between 2562 Soap&Skin. By the way, you never know, he might just turn up at the Unsound after party on 25.10.2009, to spin a few tunes. And he will definitely be leading an Unsound music journalism workshop, and running a panel or two.
