When Ugandan-American artist Ian Mugerwa, aka Dawuna, appeared seemingly out of nowhere with the self-released 'Glass Lit Dream' in 2020, it didn't take long for global attention to follow. The album is one of the most complete debuts in recent memory, re-imagining classic R&B, funk and hip-hop through a cracked lens, infusing his meticulously crafted songs with haunted nostalgia. And since then, he's kept up the level of quality, releasing the woozy 'Naya' and 'Southside Bottoms', and collaborating with Iceboy Violet and Nueen on the Hyperdub-released 'You Said You'd Hold My Hand Through The Fire'.
