Based in Los Angeles, Marco Polo Gutierrez grew up between Mexico and the Bay Area, shaping his musical identity cautiously as he absorbed local hip-hop, burgeoning border sounds and dubstep from across the pond. And his idiosyncratic hybrid sound didn't take long to make its mark: since 2012, he's positioned himself a few paces beyond global dance trends, releasing influential material on N.A.A.F.I., Houndstooth and his own SUBREAL label, and establishing himself as an unpredictably eccentric, peerless performer.
