A few paces left of Brazil's innovative, hyperactive funk production line lies Acta, an art collective and record label based in São Paulo that's run by Yan Higa, aka Yvu. Higa is a sound artist, designer, producer and DJ who's been able to highlight a different facet of contemporary Brazilian culture, offering alien queer parallel futures on their last album 'Coágulo'. Galvanizing funk remnants with dreamy pop, sci-fi sound design and electroid minimalism, Yvu's output stands up to comparisons with aya, Arca or bela, and as a DJ they apply the same artistic logic, welding anxious club bangers to peculiar, off-kilter soundscapes and outerzone pop fragments.
