Father Dionysos Tabakis

One of the most unexpected breakouts of the year, 'Paradise Metal', from Greek Orthodox priest Father Dionysos Tabakis, is truly out there on its own. The father has spent his life in the church, based in Nafplio in the northeast Peloponnese, a city that's known for its importance to the country's religion. Studying music and writing books, he also spent time learning traditional Byzantine instruments and developing a technique of playing fretless electric guitar that he uses to cross heavy psychedelic folk with Eastern devotionals, coming up with a sound that just can't possibly be replicated.
