As Opla, Polish duo Piotr Bukowski and Hubert Zemler have attempted to balance the past and the present, re-interpreting local folk sounds and Polish dances using synthesizers, acoustic instrumentation and the language of contemporary experimental music. And on their latest record 'Hydra' the traditional influences are even harder to trace, lying deep beneath dense, trance-inducing rhythms and waves of expressionistic samples.
