DISCUSSION: The Sound of the 2020s

What do the 2020s sound like? In a decade defined by fragmentation, hyperconnectivity and rapidly shifting scenes, is it still possible to identify a musical movement that captures its spirit?

Moderated by music writer Liam Inscoe-Jones, this conversation brings together a strikingly diverse group of artists, music writers and cultural observers: Resident Advisor editor and writer Gabriel Szatan; internet and music culture journalist Kieran Press-Reynolds; London DJ, artist and curator Shannen SP, whose work connects club cultures across the African diaspora; Berlin-based Egyptian producer, DJ and critic Rami Abadir; and Rowan Miles and Leo Fincham of Worldpeace DMT. Together, they’ll ask what defines music now – and whether the absence of a defining sound might itself be the sound of our time.
