Unsound Presents Post Factum, an Online Presentation of Selections From Unsound 2021

Unsound Presents 'Post Factum'

We won’t pretend otherwise: producing Unsound this year was a real challenge, but the results were definitely worth it. This year’s festival was a reminder of how crucial it is to come together IRL to experience music. We’d like to thank all artists, audience, Unsound team members, amazing volunteers, partners and sponsors involved – we can’t wait to meet again next year for the 20th edition. Ahead of that, though, there are plenty of treats coming.

The first is Unsound Post Factum, a series of late November online presentations of music performances, discussions and presentations from this year’s festival. Apart from Piano Burning, the music performances are all commissioned collaborative works. They will launch on Krakow’s Video On Demand platform PLAY Kraków on the following days:

26.11, 8pm (CET) – Bastarda and Jrpiej (project co-organized with Adam Mickiewicz Institute) / Annea Lockwood’s Piano Burning

27.11, 8pm (CET)Community of Grieving by Zosia Hołubowska & Julia Giertz and The Spirit Still Remains by Shackleton & Zimpel (both projects co-organized with Adam Mickiewicz Institute)

28.11, 8pm (CET)Weavings, conceived and curated with Nicolás Jaar, featuring Aho Ssan, Angel Bat Dawid, Antonina Nowacka, Khyam Allami, Oren Ambarchi, Pak Yan Lau, Paweł Szamburski, Raphael Rogiński, Resina, Tomoko Sauvage and Valentina Magaletti. Jaar also performs and mixes the performance.

Each of these performances will be available to stream for free for 48 hours from the day and hour they are added to PLAY Kraków.

Selections from the discourse program will be published each day on PLAY Kraków and the Unsound YouTube channel and include:

25.11 – David Toop's Listening to (the ASMR of) Sounding Things (Otherwise Known as Intimacy) and Ecology of Care.

26.11 – Benjamin Bratton’s The Synthetic and The Real and Eternal Engine’s Chakram Polarizer

27.11 – Simone Niquille’s The Map Is Not The Territory and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe’s artist talk with DeForrest Brown, Jr.

28.11 Shy Radicals with Hamja Ashan and An Interrupted History of The Foghorn with Jennifer Lucy Allan and Kevin Martin (The Bug)

29.11 – The Future of Work with Aaron Benanav and Annea Lockwood’s artist talk with Jennifer Lucy Allan

These sessions will be left permanently online, and other sessions will be uploaded in the near future.

Stay tuned to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram for reminders during the week of Post Factum. Head to Unsound Discord over this period to discuss the streams.
