This immersive new production is by Tianzhuo Chen (aka ASIANDOPEBOYS) and dancer-choreographer Siko Setyanto. If you've experienced Chen's previous works – such as the hybrid theatre-rave spectacle TRANCE or its eight-hour companion PHYSIS – you'll already know why we're so excited to present this latest collaboration.
Moyang 先祖 & Seaman 漁師 expands on 2024's Ocean Cage, focusing on its two central figures: Moyang (ancestor) and Seaman (fisherman). Exploring the intersection of ancient traditions and expressive dance improvisation, the work draws on the ritual language of Japanese Nō theatre while using the fluidity and expansiveness of the ocean to evoke stories that transcend borders and time. With live music by Indonesian artists Kadapat and Nova Ruth, it unfolds as a mesmerising encounter between ritual, movement and sound.
