Daniel Bjarnason

Icelander Daníel Bjarnason graduated from the F.I.H. Music School in 2000 with a piano diploma. He went on to study composition and orchestral conducting at the Reykjavík College of Music, then later at the Freiburg University of Music. Daníel’s compositions have been received with acclaim and his works have been performed in many countries. He is also active as a conductor working with various orchestras and regularly conducts at the Icelandic opera. In 2003 he was one of the founders of the ísafold Chamber Orchestra  and has since been its principal conductor and artistic director. Daniel’s versatilty as an arranger and conductor has also brought him into contact with a broad array of musicians outside the classical field including Sigur Rós, múm, Ólöf Arnalds and Hjaltalín. Daniel is signed with record-label Bedroom Community and his debut album “Processions” was released worldwide in February 2010. At the opening of Unsound Festival New York, Daniel will present the Unsound-commissioned work entitled "Solaris", with Ben Frost and Sinfonietta Cracovia.
