PRESENTATION: AFTERSHOCK

Lauren Martin presents her book, Aftershock: The Seismic Impact of Dubstep. The Scottish, London-based music writer and editor (formerly of RBMA, DJ Mag and others) published Aftershock in the summer of 2026 through Velocity Press. The first book on dubstep’s history, Aftershock is an oral account of the British electronic music genre’s origins, as told through extensive interviews with 28 key artists and industry figures, alongside exclusive photography and visual ephemera from artists and photographers. In her presentation, Martin discusses music archiving and oral history, dubstep sonics, culture and aesthetics, and the continuing lessons of dubstep for contemporary experimental electronic music.
